Department
The main function of the
department is to ensure quality, safety, efficacy and proper
use of drugs, medical supplies and instruments, pesticides,
cosmetics and their raw and packaging materials through
inspection, certification of competency and abuse
prevention.
Major
Responsibilities of the department are to:

Prepare standards and directives for issuing
certificate of
competence for drug manufacturers,
importers, wholesalers,
retail out-lets, health
institutions and port of entry and exist
-
Issues port clearance/entry/ exist permit for drugs
-
Control manufacture, import, export distribution and
use of
Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances (NPS) and
precursor
chemicals including their prescription papers
-
Disposes pharmaceuticals unfit for use
-
Prepare as directives/guidelines of

Good Manufacturing Practice and Inspection

Inspection of drug importers and wholesalers,
retail outlets and health institutions

Control of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic
Substances and precursor chemicals including their

The Department
has Two Divisions:
Staff
The department is staffed with
Pharmacists, Druggists, Agro-chemists, Psychologist and
administrative staff
