Planning, Drug Info. Establishment & Distribution Department
Drug Information  ADR & Promotion Control  Planning & Programming

The main function of the department is coordinating all activities and programs related to planning, monitoring, evaluation and capacity building of the authority. It provides and controls drug information particularly in promoting the rational use of drugs.

The Major Responsibilities of the Department are to:

  •  Prepare shots, medium and long term plans of the authority in
     collaboration with other departments and services

  •  Compile relevant statistical and other data for proper planning,
     monitoring and evaluation functions of the authority

  •  Prepare different standards and guidelines for

    • Establishment of drug information centers

    • Adverse drug reaction monitoring

    • Control of promotion and advertisement

  •  Assess the training needs of the authority in collaboration with
     other departments and services and ensure implementation

  •  Design, monitor and evaluate projects and programs that help
     accomplish the objectives of the authority

  •  Design and implement systems and strategies for promoting
     Rational Drug Use

  •  Serves as a national Drug Information Center

  •  Coordinates, evaluates and disseminates results of Adverse Drug
     reaction monitoring

  •  Controls promotion and advertisements of pharmaceuticals

  •  Coordinates monitoring and evaluation of programs, projects and
     plans implementation of the Authority

Staff
The department is staffed with Pharmacist, Medical Doctors, Economists, Management Professionals and administrative staffs
 

DACA is constructing a new laboratory and office building at it’s head quarters. The constru ction is scheduled to be completed in two years. Upon completion, DACA's Drug Quality control and toxicology laboratory will move to the new building. DACA envisages to be a Competent Drug Regulatory Authority in the Region.
